Director of Operations & Programming
Dylan McKay is the Director of Operations and Programming for Inner Banks Media. A long title to say that he is responsible to make sure that programming is on the air. Dylan was born in Madison Wisconsin and moved to Loveland Colorado when he was very young. Calling Colorado home for so long, his love for the outdoors grew. He grew up with a passion for hiking and skiing. Living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains gave him a perfect opportunity to take full advantage of it.
His love for radio started when he was 12 years old. He noticed instead of listening to the music, he was more interested in the DJ’s and the jingles. So, that is when he set out on a 5-year journey to practice and craft himself into what would someday become the world’s best DJ. Twenty-five years later, still working on it. He loves radio, and he loves there are people that appreciate it. Listening to the radio is a special thing, and many can take it for granted. The feelings you get when you hear a song you love, or one you haven’t thought about in ages…the emotions one gets when hearing talk radio stir emotions on the political environment, or even hearing that jingle that gets stuck in your head all day. Radio is a powerful thing, and Dylan enjoys being a part of letting others experience its magic.
Dylan has worked in radio since 1993 in Colorado. He moved to North Carolina in 2001, and began working at The Hot Fm. In 2007 when Henry and Hank Hinton purchased Archway Broadcasting, Dylan transitioned to Inner Banks Media. He has been with the company since 2007. Something almost unheard of in radio, but he has been with the same group of stations for over 16 years. With a multitude of formats under his belt, Oldies, CHR, Country, AC, Hot AC, he now calls the legendary 107.9 WNCT home every afternoon from 2p-7p.
Dylan and his wife Dana, who is the Assistant Nurse Manager for the CVIU Unit at the Heart Center at Vidant Medical Center, along with their two children, Lanna and Chandler call Winterville Home. His family is his life, and he spends as much time with them as possible. Whether it is playing in the yard, playing a video or board game, binge watching Netflix, or watching the same movie over and over again, time spent with his family is what it is all about.
